Blank Booth

A service/product I stand behind, fully support and highly recommend. There are more and more of these photo booths that are starting to appear at events, but it's the quality that Blank Booth offers as it's main focus. Check out their site for more samples. www.blankbooth.com

Del Anti Amor

--
Even though this is a very well green screen composite a few elements always give away the green screen look and makes it look unnatural. First, the acting, I know these guys are musicians and not actors, but it looks bad when they're walking through a blizzard with no real facial expressions. Next, I usually like added 3D particles, but it wasn't really well executed in this video. Particles are key element to blending the object to the background, very important. Having said all that, it's always fun to see making of videos, well done!!

STUDIO/Einsatz

--
Check out the talented artists behind Studio/Einsatz. As explained on their website "Einsatz" translates to "passionately putting your all into what you are doing." I had the privilege of working with one of their artist/animators last year on a few projects, outside of studio einsatz. Super talented and nicest person to work with.

Renault Alpine A110-50 makes France proud. A roof mounted-intake funnels air from outside the engine bay into the machine’s carbon-fiber intake. Meanwhile, a dual-clutch six-speed gearbox allows the driver the choice of disengaging the transmission via a floor-mounted clutch pedal or shifting via steering-wheel mounted paddles.

Angels over Berlin

--
“Supreme gods, bless us so that calamities do not befall us. May there be peace and happiness, and long life, and may our descendants prosper and become notable, not through fortune or fame, but through love and deed. May our rice field flourish and our silkworm cultures thrive, may our works be blessed in your eyes. May evil spirits be banished, and ghostly auras be destroyed. Divine talismans hold something unfathomable, they settle eternally in the courtyard. Their tally miraculous. Numerous in the past, blessings impossible to put into words. May the gods protect us all our days. May Heaven, Earth, and Water guard all living things. May all constellations sustain and protect me. May all the seasons of the year, all hours of our day be free of disaster, innocent of harm. May the stars of good come, and the stars of evil disperse. . .”

INSERT COIN(S)

--
A bit of history about this piece of hardware. Many computer Dj's complained about the console controller buttons being too small and fragile. DJ TECH TOOLS, company based out of San Francisco, heard these complaints and produced the MIDI FIGHTER. Ian Gold, the master mind behind the midi fighter, adopted the durable arcade buttons that took a heavy beating while playing street fighter and put it on these DJ consoles. Fast forward to today, Ian Gold hasn't stopped improving the original midi fighter, today the midi fighter 3D is built with high resolution motion sensors that are controlled across each axis of movement.

Lost In Motion

--
A stunning performance by dancer/choreographer Guillaume Cote. At first the dancer looks as if he's CG (computer generated), but I know for a fact that the CG world hasn't reached this realistic looking muscle movements, yet. Which makes me think that the editor of this video has done a terrible job of compositing if he's trying to make it look fake. Very heavy on saturation and contrast, which never looks good and the lighting is poorly executed. The key element in this video is he's dancing and how great of a dancer he is.

Take Care

--
Directed by Yoann Lemoine:

I started learning illustration and animation at Emile Cohl School, Lyon, and screen-printing techniques at Swindon College, London. After college in 2004, I started illustrating in several magazines and children’s books, in France and the USA. At the same time, I joined a french production team and started to direct my first 3D-animated TV ads and music videos, before putting my eye to the camera for my first live shoots.

Today, I live between Paris and New York, mainly working as a film director in media such as video, 8 to 35mm film, 2D and 3D animation, Stop Motion, photography, illustration, painting, screen printing, sculpture, collage, knitting, holograms, and more… I’m a very curious person, constantly looking for avenues of expression that combine those different mediums.

Call me a do-it-yourselfer.

DISCLAIMER: What you are about to see is entirely fictional.

This reminds me of those MTV intermissions in the 90's, the endless loop cycles. I was always fascinated by those animations. If I set this video to loop I could watch it forever.

Congratulations to "Good Books" and the agency "String Theory" for putting this amazing animation together. Now the world must see...

South America, Peru

--
Traveling could get expensive really fast but this trip we had a $90 budget per person per day which included hostel, delicious food (plus sampling all the street vendors), daily activities, sight seeing and bus fairs to different cities, (minus the train ticket to Machu Picchu which set us back $175 a person).

We landed in Lima, this is where we did most of the partying and drinking. To keep to the budget we took the bus from city to city, not the best time spent on these buses as they became longer and longer throughout our travels. Shortest distance was to Nacsa which was 10 hour bus ride and the longest being from south of Peru back to Lima for a whooping 15 hour bus ride, (a personal record for me). We sand-boarded in the sandy dunes of Nasca, cycled through the mountains of Cusco, hiked up to Machu Picchu, and enjoyed our last days in Arequipa than back to Lima to fly home.

You've seen the pictures now check out the video.

Premonition of Danger

--
The air is growing cold and there's nothing you can do. Soon there will be no gauze inside the confessional. There is no light in the darkest of your furthest reaches. The ocean floor is hidden from the viewing lens, a depth perception languished in the night. All my life, I've been sowing the wounds, but the seeds sprout a lachrymal cloud. -- The Mars Volta

Camo-Green-Gorillaz

In conjunction with the release of the limited edition chuck taylor Gorillaz collection, Andre 3000 and James Murphy have teamed up with Gorillaz to give you a killer visual soundtrack. I'm a big fan of Gorillaz music and creative concepts, unfortunately not a big fan of camouflage. Look out for the camo-chucks in the video.

Game 6

--
Hov and Yeezy promised you to give you visuals to their platinum hit single "Niggas In Paris" and they have delivered. The members of the freemason and their Cock-a-fella crew have put together live footage of their "Watch The Throne" tour. The video isn't anything cutting edge, just some After Effects plugins and high definition footage, but I like it. The song is awesome, the video is great along with Kanye's leather skirt.

Game Time

--
For the most part I try to stay positive, be productive with my time, challenge myself and always do something creative. I look at other peoples work and it inspires me to do something similar or get ideas from other artist. Sometimes you comes across something so great that it just discourages you to do anything. It just reminds you no matter how hard you try you will never be this good. These mofo's at JCE and specially Dong-uk Lee have just shut this whole shit down. For those of you looking at this with naked eyes, this may look similar to what you have seen in similar games, but pay close attention to the detail. I can just imagine how much fun the compositors had with this project.

In the Beginning...

--
There was once a time where DJ's played vinyl. Carrying heavy crates into clubs, sorting through cover after cover with a flash light in their mouths trying to see in a dark area underneath the 1200's that were stationed in, what felt like, a three ton coffin. There were no set playlists, and DJ's knew exactly what to play next, vibin' off the party people. This era was not too long ago, everyone remembers this. Dj's were considered vinyl junkies, they didn't care about anything else besides music, they were just some random dudes that were in the back room and no one really cared to see them.

Today, we have beauty pageant models as DJ's, we put them on center stage and just stand there to watch them, until the LED lights burn a hole in our eyeballs. Even Monday Night Social (For Hollywood Residents) has sold it's sole to greed. I remember standing ten feet away from Miss Nine at the old Nacional main floor. Not everything has gone to shit, some things have excelled and gave us things that were never possible on the old MK2's.

Pioneer DJ Global drops it's limited CDJ-2000 next month. If you got the money and are in the industry get 'em while it's available. If not, just enjoy this video of Miss Nine.

Baby Light My Fire

--
From William Brakes quotation: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite." came the most controversial rock band in the sixties, The Doors. Greatest rock and roll band in my opinion. Fast forward to half a century later members from the band join todays hottest dub-step artist Skrillex to create RE-GENERATION. A project that five Dj's such as Skrillex turn the tables (pun intended) on the history of music.

Six months ago a friend sent me an email asking to check out her cousin's new music video. I thought it was well done with nice lyrics so I posted it on this blog tryin' to help spread the word. Since than I've gotten many hits on that video with positive feedback. Today I'd like to share with you MC Imprints new music video "Sidelines".

A Seal Beach resident (MC IMPRINT) dedicating this song to those you lost their lives in the tragic Salon Meritage event on Oct. 12, 2011.

Life Itinerary

--
We perceive the passage of time as a continuous, series of linear experiences. It doesn't appear to stop, slow down, or speed up at any point. We don't jump over pieces of time, skipping forward or back to the points that interest us. Therefore, time does not exist, it is simply our mind applying an understandable framework to the progression of our consciousness.
